The algorithm for connecting the two devices is performed in the following sequence:

  • On the Honor smartphone, the user needs to open the phone settings.
  • Then go to the “Wireless networks” section.
  • Click on the line “Wi-Fi”.
  • Click on the three vertical dots at the top right, a drop-down menu will open.
  • Select “Wi-Fi Direct”.

To set up a universal remote control, hold down the TV button for 5-10 seconds; when the backlight of the buttons or screen flashes and the TV mode indicator lights up, enter the TV code; if the settings are accepted, the backlight flashes three more times; if the setting is not completed, the backlight flashes once and the TV mode indicator lights up.

Hold down the “Power” button along with the button of the device for which you program the remote control. Release both buttons when prompted. When the LED indicator of the remote will light up (and will not go out), release the device button and the “Power” button. Point the remote control at the device for which you program the remote control.

On Xiaomi smartphone running MIUI 11, go to “Settings” and find the “Connection and sharing” line. Activate the “Broadcast” switch, and confirm that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your smartphone. The smartphone will begin searching for your TV, which will act as a second display.

“Mi Remote” or “Mi Remote” is an OS MIUI system app. It is used to emulate the operation of the remote control. The app controls remotely electronic devices from various companies, the list of acceptable devices is constantly expanding.

To turn on the TV without remote control, you need to press the appropriate button on the body, provided by the manufacturer. Similarly, you can turn off the TV without the remote. On LG, Sony, Thomson, Samsung TVs, the button panel is usually located on the back wall next to the connectors.

Mi Remote is installed by default on Xiaomi phones and is under “Tools”.Adding a remote control to the app

  • Turn on the electronic device for which you want to create a remote.
  • Launch Mi Remote.
  • On the main screen of the program click on the sign “” or the inscription “Add remote control.
  • A list of devices will appear.

The remote control from the TV Xiaomi does not work

Many budget and mid-budget solutions from Xiaomi still install an infrared sensor. The thing, which in the age of mobile Internet development should have long ago faded into oblivion because of its uselessness, is still relevant and necessary for a large number of users.

Today the infrared sensor is no longer associated with the data transmission, but with the ability to turn your smartphone into a universal remote control that can control both your TV and, for example, an air conditioner.

However, sometimes Xiaomi’s dedicated app for controlling appliances fails, and the infrared port becomes a meaningless gimmick. Fortunately, the solution to this problem is very easy.

Working with the controller

The base works via Wi-Fi, it does not need a gateway to work, just a smartphone/tablet with installed software. Mi Home. You will also need a 5V power supply with a USB A socket

After turning on the power, the controller is detected by the Mi Home app, pairing takes place, after which the controller appears in the list of devices. The standard plugin is not even translated into English

That’s why I had to use the translated version I got here. Immediately after installation, the firmware of the controller is updated. In the main menu of the controller there are options that allow you to sort the stored remotes in order, view or create new smart scripts, and go to a submenu of basic settings.

In the main settings menu, you can set the device name, share it with another Mi account, assign a device group (by room name), check for updates, delete, add a plugin shortcut to the desktop, view network information.

Developer mode. allowing you to add the device to alternative systems, like yeelight or gateway, unfortunately there is no.

Now let’s consider methods of adding remotes. There are three of them

Search model. all supported remotes by name, and there are both official and custom remotes gallery.

Add Remote. add a remote control from the existing ones, selecting by device type. similar to the Mi Remote app on Xiaomi smartphones with IR sensor

Copy remote control. copy control signals from any IR remote control that is available

First and second mode. differs only by primary selection and further they are absolutely identical. find needed device, for example Samsung TV, then by checking supply and volume buttons find working remote control and save it in the list.

By the way for owners of Android TV boxes with this remote. choose from the category Xiaomi Mi Box device. the remote will work fine. What’s convenient, the software offers to combine remotes. and you can get on one screen control buttons for TV. from above. power and volume, and nothing else is needed, and the TV box.

In the remote control copy menu we can add any of the available remotes. First select the type of device, or the option “Other devices”, then, following the on-screen prompts, assign a command to each button. In the case of certain class of devices, e.g. TV-box, we press corresponding buttons on real controller screen, one by one, saving them to virtual one. Or we name buttons in class. other devices and record action of real controller for them.

My list of remotes for this controller is as follows. In addition to standard remotes. for the TV and Android box, there are “trained” remotes from the humidifier, robot vacuum cleaner and air conditioner. Which allows you to control these devices using smart home scenarios.

Review of the universal IR controller Xiaomi, settings, scripts

In this review I will talk about Xiaomi universal infrared controller, designed to control any device that has a remote control with infrared LED. In addition to the extensive database of devices, the controller can also be taught. so it can repeat absolutely any remote. I will also give examples of Smart scenarios with it, including ones that activate/deactivate themselves or other scenarios. Details in my review

Where to Buy?

Delivery. by New Post, everything is standard, there is nothing particular to describe, comes in a cardboard box, this time not the usual white, but brown. such I also met, like the first versions of the bracelets Mi band were in similar.

The dimensions of the box are perfectly matched to the controller. nothing hangs around the box. The cardboard is thick and hard, it will be quite problematic to damage it in transit.

Delivery set is ascetic. “washer” of controller and flat USB. micro USB power cable

Appearance, dimensions

On the side edge of the washer, which is conventionally called “front” is a blue LED, always on when the controller is on, and diametrically opposite side, which is called “rear”. plug micro USB

The upper part, initially protected by a shipping sticker and seems opaque, but in fact it is not

Can not be seen with the naked eye, but with the camera. you can see the glow of infrared diodes arranged “daisy”. to direct the signal to all sides. Screenshot from video (video review as always in the end of the text one)

Smart Scenarios

The IR controller is available as an action for any scenario in the MIHome app. When selecting a device from the list. we have one option. Remote Mode. then the list of saved remotes and then. any button of any remote control.

Humidifier. unlike a mechanically controlled humidifier, which can be simply turned on and off with a Smart outlet, the model under consideration is controlled by remote control. To integrate it into a smart home system, and to control the humidity I wrote an executable script, in which with a difference of 2 seconds the humidifier first turns on, then increases the set humidity to 70% (especially so that it does not turn off by itself) and turns on the ionization mode.

There are two scenarios controlling the humidity. one triggers when the humidity is below 40% and runs a script, and the second triggers when the humidity is over 50% and just activates the on/off button.

There is a subtlety here. the humidity varies and even after the humidifier is switched on/off, it is still within the limits of the allowed scenarios for some time. In the case of the socket control. this is not a problem, the socket is already on / off, the repeated command does not change anything. In the case of the remote control. repeated actuation of the script. turns it on or off again, as the same button on the remote control is responsible for this action.

To avoid this, each of the scenarios has additional conditions. stopping its action and turning on the second boundary scenario. That is, the scenario of humidity over 50%. activates the on/off button on the IR controller, switches itself to the “off” state and turns on the scenario. humidity. less than 40%. And vice versa.

I also added to this scheme of humidity control the window opening and closing scenarios. Since there is no sense to humidify the room when the window is open, then, when the event. window is open for over 1 minute. observance of the event will disable the humidity control scenarios below 40 and above 50%. The scripts for window closing are activated. there are two of them and the “window is open” script stops, it has already been worked out, and there is no need to repeat it until the window is closed. Since I can’t track the status of the humidifier. whether or not it’s running when the window is open. I simply unplug the outlet it’s plugged into for 30 seconds. Which simply resets it and guarantees its shutdown.

There are two scenarios for closing the window. The first comes into operation when the humidity is less than 40% and immediately activates the turn-on humidifier, activates the control scenario. humidity over 50%, the “window is open” scenario and deactivates both scenarios on window closing.

The second scenario. if the humidity is more than 40%. In this case the humidifier does not turn on, but activates the scenario. the humidity is less than 40%, then similarly. disable the closing scenarios and activate the opening scenario.

Here are a few more examples of scenarios that I use.

Executable scenario on TV shutdown. That first I would not have to leave the Android box player. I watch movies and TV with it, and then, with another remote not to turn off the TV. now I do it at the touch of a button.

I also disabled scheduled cleaning on the vacuum cleaner (Ilife A4). now it is controlled by the controller. Now on weekdays it starts a little earlier than on weekends, and on weekends it automatically goes into high power mode, which reduces the cleaning time. instead of more than 2 hours, to an hour.

Switching on the Xiaomi Smart TV for the first time

Xiaomi is known for producing a wide range of devices. And of course, many users first think of smartphones. But Xiaomi also produce Smart-TVs. And how to connect them? About this today and tell you.

Firstly you need to take the TV out of the box and fix it on the feet. To fix the feet in the kit are screws, they have a Phillips head.

Next we connect the TV to the network. And put two AAA batteries in the regular remote control.

Now let’s get acquainted with the remote control. It has eight buttons, whose functions we will describe from top to bottom:

1) power button; 2) enable voice search; 3) disk for navigation in the system; 4) the central button, duplicating the “Okay” action;

5) turn on the PatchWall system; 6) step back; 7) switch to pure Android; 8) lower volume control knob.

Next, turn on the TV by pressing the power button. It is located on the TV on the bottom edge under the Mi logo.

Next, synchronize the remote and the TV by pressing the central button on the remote. If remote control isn’t detected, you need to press the extreme round buttons on the remote control and repeat the connection operation.

Next, select the region. To navigate the menu, use the joystick on the remote control.

The next step is to choose the system language. The Russian language is available, but the Belarusian one we haven’t found.

Then comes the choice of setting: via Android device or not. If you choose via Android, the TV will take almost all the data from the owner’s smartphone. But there may not be such a smartphone, so let’s consider a full manual setup.

Connect Smart-TV to Wi-Fi. Choose home access point and then enter password. By the way, you can connect a wired keyboard to the TV for easy input. By the way, these televisions support a connection via wired Internet.

To fully expose the TV you need to connect it to Google services. To do this, the next step is to log in to your Google account. We use Gmail for logging in.

You can use your smartphone, computer or remote control to log in. We will use the latter to make the connection. Enter login (email) and password on the virtual keyboard.

The next step is to read and agree with the user agreement.

Next, give permission to use the TV location, or skip this action. In order for the TV to take full advantage, permission is best granted.

Next Android asks for permission to collect user data. This is the best place to say no.

The next step is the name for the TV. You can choose one of the suggested names or write your own.

connect, remote, control, xiaomi

Then we read and agree with the Xiaomi User Agreement.

It is better to give a waiver to the request to improve the performance of the devices.

Next, we get acquainted with the capabilities of the TV by scrolling through the slides on the screen.

Next, the system will show you how to use the remote control to change systems. After all, the Xiaomi TV has as many as 2 shells. pure Android and PatchWall. For each of them there is a dedicated button on the remote. PatchWall is activated by the Mi button, and pure Android is activated by the button with a circle drawn.

connect, remote, control, xiaomi

After that, the TV will boot into the system. And the user can enjoy the content on the new TV.

Making a “Rocket” out of the Xiaomi Mi Box 3

The TV box is a device that can turn your old TV (tube coffins from the last century don’t count) into a home media station in just 60. To give it a second life, you just need to use one HDMI connector. Thousands of TV channels, conveniently sorted by categories (sports, news, children, fashion, etc.).д.), recorded TV shows (in case you missed a show), YouTube, online movies, games, music, and even a weather forecast, alarm clock, quick info search. all this is easy and handy with your home TV. Not only that, you can even connect a webcam to set up a video surveillance system for your apartment. For a little better understanding of what we are talking about, we recommend watching our video on this topic.
