iOS 7 How to make bold fonts back in the user interface
In iOS 7, Apple has redesigned not only the icons, color scheme and design, but also defined the main headset of the operating system as thin Helvetica Neue, which was previously used mostly in print. If you’re used to bold captions and menus like you used to, go to Settings. Main. Universal access. Bold Fonts ON. The gadget will reboot and you will go back in time.
There you can also increase the contrast for better readability from the screen.
How to resize and bold iOS 7 fonts.1
The airiness and whiteness of iOS 7 appealed to many, but after using the iPhone or iPad on older firmware was very unaccustomed. And even more so. thin fonts were less readable, and for people with poor eyesight this is a real problem. Fortunately, the system allows you to change the font size and even include a “bold” typeface. Let’s see how to do it.
This and the following articles in the series are written for beginners and tell in simple language about useful tricks and features of iOS/OS X. If you are a seasoned user, then shout out: Everyone has known that for a long time! don’t. some people necessarily don’t know. If you have any ideas (perhaps a case in point), post them in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев or at email@example.com.

The options we need are hidden under: Settings → Basic → Universal Access. There are a lot of interesting things in this menu, which we will talk about in the next few issues of Advice, but now look at the items “Enlarged text” and click on the “Boldface” slider.
The former opens a menu with a single toggle and a font-size bar. The switch activates the enlarged font mode. Where possible (including in many third-party apps), the letters will be very large. If you’re not visually impaired, you can find the size of text that works best for you. For example I feel most comfortable with a slightly smaller font than the average (first screenshot).
The “Bold font” option requires a reboot and once it’s activated, all fonts on the system go Bold.
On the left iOS 7.1 with a normal font, on the right with a bold font (the text looks neater on the iPhone screen than in the screenshots):
If you find a mistake, please highlight text and press CtrlEnter.
How to change the font style, size and color on iPhone 12/11 / XS / XR / X / 8/7/6
By default, the iPhone has a fairly common user interface for all users. However, many of us will want to change the look of the iPhone. One of the most important issues is the font, because we are constantly reading on the screen.
However, the customization options are somehow limited when it comes to the iPhone.
But there are a few things we can do to change the font to get a unique user interface.
What we will say is change the font style, size and color on the iPhone running on iOS 13/14/15. Whether you jailbreak or not, you can also get different fonts on the iPhone.
- 1) Open the Settings on your device.
- 2) Go to the Universal Access menu item.
- 3) Tap Display Adaptation under the Vision menu item.
- 4) Move the slider to “On” on the White Point Reduction menu bar.
- Move your mouse pointer to the mini toolbar above the highlighted Bold.
- Tap the Bold button in the Font group on the Home tab.
- Enter the CTRLB keys.
Of course the size of the text is important, but for many users the boldness of the font is also important. To change the thickness of the font, open the “Settings ” → “Screen and brightness ” → “Boldface “and drag the slider to a position of your choice. After your iOS device restarts, all items (from icons to text in messages) will look thicker and darker.
The easiest way to enlarge text on iPhone
You do not need to do anything special to use this feature. Pinch-to-zoom, a feature that became one of the main features of the original iPhone, allows the user to magnify text in various applications with a multitouch. The function has been customary for users for a long time, but just in case we will remind you how it works: in order to increase a text or image in an application, touch the screen with two fingers and move them apart. Pinch-to-zoom does not work in all applications, but standard applications such as Safari, Photos, and Mail support it.
I would also like to include the Smart Zoom feature. In the same standard applications, or applications that work with text and images, such as third-party browsers (Google Chrome, Puffin), you can enlarge the displayed content by quickly clicking twice on the same spot.
How to reduce or increase font size on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
For the elderly and visually impaired, Apple mobile devices may be uncomfortable to use due to the size of certain iOS interface elements. Some iPhone and iPad owners may want to reduce fonts, menu items, buttons, and other elements of the interface to display more information on the screen. Apple has tried to please both groups of users and has implemented the item in the settings, which is responsible for changing the font size.
In the iOS settings there is an option “Text size”. It can reduce or increase font size in the system, as well as in the Phone, Contacts, Mail, Calendar, Notes, and other applications that support the “Dynamic font” function.
You can change the font size both in the smaller and in the larger side on the iPhone in the iOS settings. The disadvantage of this approach is that it will affect the operating system, standard and compatible applications, but not all third-party. Fortunately, many of them have a customizable option. Let’s take a closer look at both options.
In order to increase the font in the iOS environment in general, standard and compatible apps that support Dynamic Font, do the following
Note: In addition to directly enlarging the text, you can also make it more bold. this will be useful in some cases.
In some applications, especially if they are messengers or social networking clients in which communication through correspondence and reading messages plays an important role, there is a built-in ability to increase the size of the preset font. These include clients and Telegram. By their example, let us consider how to solve our today’s problem in cases when it is not possible to change the system settings.
Note: The following instruction may well be relevant for other applications whose settings have the ability to increase fonts. Some (or most) items may (and most likely will) have different names, but look for descriptions that make sense and make sense.
After launching the application, go to the “Settings” tab and then to the “Appearance” section.
Increasing the font size above the allowable values
If you’ve set the maximum font size, but it doesn’t seem large enough to change that value beyond what’s allowed, you should turn to the Universal Access settings. The steps to do this are slightly different for the current iOS 13 and its predecessor version 12, as well as those released even earlier.
Using the above instruction, increase the font size to the highest possible. Go back to the main “Settings” list and go to “Universal Access”.
In the iPhone Settings, go to the “Basic” section.
Changing the font size
Make the text too large, and you may have trouble pressing buttons or using other functions in the programs. Go back to the settings menu and adjust the font size.
